Tips for Healthy Skin

Saturday, 18 June 2011 11:16 by skincareadvisor

Let's look at some easy ways to look younger, slow the aging process, get help for dry skin, skin elasticity and skin protection.

Keeping in mind the words ~all natural~. The best ingredients for your skin are the simplest ones.  Look for basic ingredients on labels such as water, glycerin, herbal extracts, plant oils, and beeswax....just to name a few.

The Naturally Skinsational eBook is packed full of natural skin care recipes you can find in your kitchen.

Healthy Skin Care

Help for Dry Skin
We cannot stress enough how important drinking lots of water is for the health and beauty of our skin and the entire body.  8 glasses a day at least, just for regular maintenance, more during times of strenuous exercise.  Vitamin E is very important for helping dry skin.  It can be taken as capsules to help from the inside and used as rich emollient cream to smooth on the skin to help on the outside.  Other helpful supplements to increase moisture include Flaxseed Oil, Omega 3 and Primrose Oil.  All beneficial and nutricious for our skin.  Try a moisturizing facial mask with nourishing ingredients especially for dry skin.  An easy mask to try is the Peach Mask. Mash a fresh peach, mix with just enough warm olive oil to form a spreadable paste.  Smooth on clean wet skin, leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.  Afterwards use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.

Improve Elasticity
Hydrate...hydrate...hydrate...and moisturize!!!   Skin elasticity increases with the increase of hydration within the layers of skin.  This can be achieved by taking in lots of water and applying moisturizer to the skin in the form of moisturizing masks and just our everyday moisturizer we apply just before makeup.  Also, as previously mentioned for dry skin, taking supplements is an easy way to improve elasticity in the form of Flaxseed Oil, Omega 3 and Primrose Oil.

Importance of Exfoliation
Removing the oldest dead skin cells is the reason and process of all facials.  This removal unclogs pores, keeps skin clean and reduces acne breakouts. To achieve exfoliation,  abrasives for the skin include sugar or salt crystals, crushed almonds, oatmeal, cornmeal and micro-bead facial scrubs to mention a few.  These ingredients can be made into cleansing facial scrubs. Dry brushing is another effective method to help improve your skins health and appearance.

Protect Skin
Here's a few important skin tips to protect skin and keep it looking younger and healthier.

1. Limit sun exposure which causes many types of aging skin damage:

  • age spots
  • wrinkles
  • freckles
  • skin cancer
  • benign growths

Stay indoors when the sun is most intense, usually between 10am and 3pm.  Apply sunscreen regularly.

2. Stay hydrated. Keeping skin moist is essential to protect skin.  Drink lots of water, use moisturizer according to your skin type. Take warm showers and baths for 15 minutes.  Hot water removes moisture from our skin.

3. Use gentle skin care.  Nothing too abrasive for your skin type.  The exfoliating process should be gentle and nourishing and products used should be mild not irritating for sensitive skin. Try some gentle and nourishing All Natural Skin Care Recipes.

4. Pay special attention to moles, freckles and growths.  See your doctor if you notice any changes.  Prompt attention can usually reduce any associated problems.

Final note:  Taking good care of our skin from the outside and nourishing from the inside, skin protection is easy.  Love, protect and care for the skin we're in!!
